In mid July 2020 Namdeb commissioned its own COVID-19 testing laboratory in Oranjemund. In addition to an array of stringent precautionary measures instituted, the laboratory is part of Namdeb’ s comprehensive COVID-19 response plan and does not test only Namdeb employees but also caters for the Oranjemund community and the surrounding towns of Keetmanshoop, Rosh Pinah and Lüderitz as part of the contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.
As a patriotic corporate citizen, Namdeb proudly joined the private sector through the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) to strengthen the supply of oxygen in Namibia by donating a 21 tonne load of oxygen to the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The first oxygen consignment donated by Namdeb to the Katutura hospital was received by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula at Katutura State Hospital on Thursday, 24 June 2021.
